Candidates are welcomed and registered at a reception point where lockers are available to store personal effects such as mobile phones, which are not permitted in the test area. Following registration and identity checks, candidates are shown to an allocated work station partitioned from similar work stations in the secure test area. Each workstation has a desk and chair, a computer screen, a computer mouse and headphones.
The Theory Test begins with an explanatory video followed by the multiple choice questions. This part of the Theory Test allows candidates to select answers using a touch screen display. At the end of the multiple choice Theory section there will be a short pause before the Hazard Perception section of the Theory Test begins. Candidates register responses in the Hazard Perception section by clicking the computer mouse.
At the end of the test, candidates return to the reception area where they will be handed a letter confirming whether or not they have passed the test. This letter contains a summary of the test scores and in the case of a pass it will contain the Theory Test Pass Certificate which is required to book a Practical Driving Test.
